Ileana Iliescu (President of the Jury)

 

2018 Attitude Jury Ileana Iliescu

 

Emeritus artist, prima ballerina of the Bucharest National Opera for 50 years. She danced in the international repertoire of Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, Scherezada, Giselle, The Tricorn, Stone Flower, Bayadera, Coppelia. She toured with Swan Lake at Balșoi, with Giselle at Kirov, with other productions in Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, Bulgaria, Spain, Switzerland, Cuba, Brazil, France. Mrs Iliescu was director of the Ballet Company of the National Opera in Bucharest and choreographer of the National Opera in Iași.

 

 Eugen Gîrneț

 

University Associate Professor at the Chisinau Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts,

artistic director and choreographer at the National Choreography College in Chisinau, choreographer of the "Maria Biesu" National Theater of Opera and Ballet in Chisinau.

In 2006, he was awarded the title of "Master of Arts" by the Presidency of the Republic of Moldova. He staged successful shows both in the Republic of Moldova and in Romania, Italy, Spain, Russia and Kazakhstan. Among the choreographies created are original versions of the ballets Prince and Beggar by N.Simonian, Romeo and Juliet by S.Prokofiev, Polovtsian Dances from the opera Prince Igor by A.Borodin; numerous entertainments from operas and over 300 miniatures to the music of composers from different styles and eras.

 

Tamara Grimmer

She was born in Zurich into a family of musicians but chose the art of dance and graduated from the Vaganova ballet academy in St. Petersburg. Ms. Grimmer has an impressive experience in the ballet world, both as a dancer and as a teacher.

Her career began at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, where she worked as a ballet dancer for four years. She then expanded her expertise at the Classical Ballet Moscow and later at the Romanian National Opera in Bucharest.

Her stage presence and dedication to dance mark her as an outstanding artist.

In addition to her work as a dancer, Ms. Grimmer has also discovered a passion for teaching ballet. For more than a decade, she has been teaching ballet, Pilates, and yoga-inspired workouts to help other dancers improve their skills and cultivate their passion for dance.

 

Octavian Popa

 

2023 Attitude Jury Octavian Popa 2023

 Soloist of the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca.

Graduated in choreography at the "Gh. Dima" Academy of Music in Cluj, he carries out a sustained activity as a soloist at the Romanian National Opera and the Hungarian State Opera in Cluj Napoca. Although he is young, his activity is complex: as a pedagogue he taught courses in choreographic improvisation, general repertoire at the High School of Choreography and at the Faculty of Performing Arts in Cluj. He also established himself as a choreographer, staging shows such as "In Thought", "Space" (music by J. Cage), "Death and the Maiden" (music by F. Schubert), "Romeo and Juliet" (music by S. Prokofiev ), The young man and death.

 

Mara Boană

where she dances in Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Carmen, Aida, Don Quixote, Carmina Burana and Giselle. She is a graduate of the National Art College "George Apostu" Bacau and the College of Choreography in Kiev; attended specialization courses at the Akademie des Tanzes in Mannheim (Germany) and Ballett Akademie der Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (Germany).

She is currently a student at the Choreography department of the U.N.A. "George Enescu", Iasi.

 

Quirin Brunhuber

Choreographer, dancer and musician

Born in June of 1998 in Ingolstadt, Germany, he spent most of his childhood in Romania, where he was exposed to the diverse cultures present in his parents' home, school and society. This unique background has heavily influenced his artistic work, which is focused on exploring concepts such as identity, tradition, and the perception of individuals in space.

After finishing his professional training in Bucharest, he moved to Germany to pursue higher education, completing both his bachelor's and master's degrees in dance and choreography at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim, where he graduated in 2020.

Currently Quirin has settled in Munich, where he is a versatile artist, working across multiple mediums.

As an independent choreographer, he collaborates with numerous cultural and educational institutions, including the Dance Academy of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim and the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
